✍️ Ten Things #257
Microplastics, emo and sex
Hi friends,
I first started drawing in lockdown after Thom showed me some stuff he’d made on his iPad. Despite the fact I was abysmal at art at school, I found I loved it.
Since then, I’ve made lots of drawings and started collecting art on the side. All of which is a complete surprise to me.
Below, you’ll see drawings from my first exhibition. They’re of eight magical people from my church, Holy Trinity E11. The drawings were based on exceptional photos by Morgane Bigault, then turned into A4 giclée prints on Hahnemuhle German Etching paper.
I made two prints of each portrait. They’re available for £25 with all profits going to Medical Aid for Palestinians.
Hit reply if you’d like to buy one! (Having one of these beautiful people on your wall guarantees eternal good luck and endless positive vibes.)

Also, Christmas is coming and some people have said that my drawings make “the perfect gift”. If you’d like to commission me to draw your loved ones, drop me a line.
And now, the things.
Your friend,
Luke

Usher in autumn with this gorgeous folk record, complete with the loveliest artwork.
(For something totally different, I can’t stop listening to this song by the Jonas Brothers.)
Maybe not, my dudes! Maybe not!
A woman with a terminal diagnosis sets out to have her first orgasm. This show is everything — hilarious, heartbreaking, inventive. Seriously, it’s so good.
I’m grateful to Taskmaster for introducing me to a host of great comedians, especially John Kearns. The link takes you to a few excerpts from his 2024 special, which made me weep with laughter. You can watch the whole thing on Apple TV.
Also, the new series of Taskmaster is out now!
Faye’s art is very funny, very weird and very dark. I bought this ceramic ornament of a dog doing a poo as well as this zine of pooing dogs. The perfect additions to any home.
Everything you ever wanted to know about Uniqlo.
Have we gone too far with ‘gentle parenting’? (Nah, I like being a big softie.)
A little treat for my fellow emos.
May we all be like Mollie.
This collection of short stories about sex, relationships and identity in the internet age is superb. Jia Tolentino said it’s “a thrill for the sickos among us” and she’s not wrong. Let me know if you read it!
