Happy October, friends!
I’m heading to Amsterdam this weekend to run my first marathon in five years. I’m woefully underprepared but thankfully the weather forecast is good (cold). Pray for me.
In other news, I’ve been cutting back on work, starting to demo some new Doggy Heaven songs and trying to find a new, more relaxed pace of life. Why is being ~chill~ so hard?

I fell down a rabbit hole on Spotify and discovered this gorgeous Norwegian indie pop record. Dommedag is a bop.
2. 📻 Search Engine — Why are we still buying diamonds?
Because they’re shiny, duh.

Annabel and I watched this entire series in 24 hours, so you might say we enjoyed it. Thrilling! Slightly preposterous! Very fun!

Sometimes you need a solid rom com and this one really hit the spot.
5. 📝 The search for an AC that doesn't destroy the planet
As inept governments continue to let our planet burn, the race is on to develop more sustainable AC units.
6. 📝 Ben Kweller is playing through the pain
I fell in love with Kweller’s music when I was a teen and was sad to hear about his son dying earlier this year. This piece is beautiful and heartbreaking.

It’s heartening to discover that there’s a crop of influencers creating content for boys and men that counteracts Tate’s repugnant views.
10. 📚 Patrick Radden Keefe — The Snakehead
I devoured Radden Keefe’s last two books (Empire of Pain and Say Nothing) and was delighted to hear that his 2009 book was being published in the UK. It tells the story of Chinese human traffickers in the US, brutal gang warfare and people’s simple desire for a better life in a new country. Riveting.
